Finite dimensional approximation of structured models in epidemiology

I will briefly present a method for approximating structured models in PDE formulation with finite-dimensional ODE. I will show some examples with focus on numerical bifurcation analysis.

Having in mind applications to epidemiology, I will present some preliminary ideas of how the approximation method could be employed to obtain algorithms for the approximation of \(R_{0}\).
