Computing the characteristic roots for the stability analysis of the stationary solution in the Gurtin–MacCamy model

We recall the definition of the Gurtin-MacCamy model; then we analyze the stability of its nontrivial solutions, using the characteristic equation. We show a method to numerically compute the characteristic roots in order to determine stability.
